here are a few images from an artist I stumbled across the other day. the artist is Gayle Ketzel and these are prints she's made of photos taken digitally through an old Kodak Duaflex viewfinder. i find a lot of her images to be very beautiful and ephemeral and they contain a lot of emotion for me. in short, i love these and i hope you do as well.

a new york magpie's eye: a blog i've been following and meaning to share for a bit now

this from one of my favorite blogs....a beautiful resource for all things "rain"

and these are just some photos of bundles of cardboard that i love, from the same blog

Paul Villinski is amazing.

Paul Villinski: ”Hard Lesson” 2006; wooden child's chair, wooden ladder, sandbags; 109” x 30” x 30”

this one's maybe my favorite, though i am in love with all i have seen of his work.

Paul Villinski: "Air Chair” (detail) 2005; found wheelchair, steel, aluminum, wood, rayon; 18'-6” x 3' x 11'-6” ; photo Hiro Ihara

the story behind this one is heartwrenchingly admirable: http://www.paulvillinski.com/artist_statement/artist_statement.html and well worth reading.

Paul Villinski: "Paradigm” (detail) 2007; aluminum (found beer cans), wire, soot; 38” x 52” x 6” mounted to MDF panel

and of course these are hard to resist, facinating, and rather reminecient of print design...though of course the 3-d flutter effect is perhaps the best part and unachievable in 2-d.

Life span

Here's a photo I took of a piece of art I made a couple of years ago.....it's made of willow and leaves and copper. I need to get a color image of it and will post it when I get to it.

just playing around and figuring this blog thing out. here's a print i made for a class i took a couple of years ago. it was made with a combination of etching and monotyping. mostly i was playing around with color combinations and ideas of natural processes. i finally titled it "pollination."
